Steve Speirs is a Welsh actor who has had a
diverse career in both television and film. He is
known for his roles in various popular TV series
and movies. Born in 1965 in the Welsh village of
Troedyrhiw as Steve Roberts, he adopted the stage
name ‘Speirs’ after his college lecturer.
Speirs starred in and wrote the successful BBC TV
series "The Tuckers" and appeared in the series
Stella, Ben Elton's Upstart Crow, Doctor Who,
Big School, plus After Life and Extras with Ricky
Gervais. He also appeared in Sharpe's Peril, Burke
& Hare, Bad Education, Goodnight Sweetheart,
Rovers, and Miranda, among others.
In his film career, Steve has been a part of
blockbusters like Star Wars: Episode I - The
Phantom Menace alongside Liam Neeson and
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
alongside Johnny Depp. He has also appeared in
films such as The Musketeer, Inkheart, and Krod
Mandoon and many others as he developed his
creative craft.
Aside from his work in television and film, Steve
has also performed in many theater productions,
appearing in Ben Elton’s Up Start Crow in London’s
West End and also the Welsh National Opera
production of Die Fledermaus.
Steve Speirs attended Afon-Taf High School and
later joined the National Youth Theatre of Wales
working alongside fellow Welsh actors Ruth Jones
and Robert Brydon. Steve went on to study drama
at Loughborough University.
